Bob Chmielewski: President 2008-2010
As part of his goals as leader of the Foundation, Chmielewski said he would like to see more growth in the endowment fund as well as more “friend-raising” to achieve that goal. “We want to sustain and enhance our wonderful quality of life in Cedarburg,” he said. “If we do a good job of friend-raising, our endowment will grow.” During his tenure, Chmielewski said he also wants to build stronger relationships with with advisors who work with clients which have charitable intentions, and he would like to see the Legacy Society grow to 100 members. Chmielewski, who was a Marquette University basketball star, has worked as a financial representative for the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network for 43 years. He was involved in many fund raising efforts to assist the Marquette University athletic department, including an effort to raise more than $1 million over a ten-year period for MU. Jim Coutts, who is leaving after two terms as President, thanked the board for all of the support they have given him during his tenure, particularly in light of the tragedy in 2006 when incoming president Don Rintleman was tragically killed in a car accident. “The board encouraged me to assume the position and it’s been a very pleasant and wonderful experience. I can’t say enough of what a great opportunity it has been for me and I really enjoyed it.” New board members sworn in at the June 2008 Board meeting were Joe Fazio, Dave Pagel, Bob Loomis, Jerry Vogt and Ted Brueggemann. The Cedarburg Foundation, formally organized on September 29, 2000, provides support for artistic, cultural, and community service projects that contributed to Cedarburg’s civil vitality. |
Jim W. Coutts: Immediate Past President
Coutts was elected unanimously to take office two years earlier than expected, following the untimely death of Donald Rintelman in May 2006. Rintelman, president-elect of the Foundation at the time of his death, was killed in an automobile accident that also took the lives of his son, Brian Rintelman, and Brian’s friend, Thomas “T. J.” Beck, both 17 years old. Dick Dieffenbach, Foundation Treasurer, noted at the time that the Foundation had received several donations as memorials to Donald Rintelman. He said that these and any future donations in the Rintelman name would become part of the Foundation’s permanent endowment fund. Today there are more than 20 members of the Donald Rintelman Legacy Society. Visit the Legacy Society page for further information. Other new officers elected by the board at the same time included Robert Chmielewski, president-elect; Ben Levy, vice-president; and Susan Lange, secretary. Richard A. Dieffenbach continued as treasurer. Duey Stroebel, immediate past president, and M. D. “Mal” Hepburn, past president, remained on the executive committee. |
